Too much playing may have actually affected Vici Gaming!

Zhou Yang Haiyang

Chinese fans were taken aback during the China DPC Upper Division Tour 2 following Vici Gaming’s decision to forfeit. Supposedly, the Chinese powerhouse was to face Royal Never Give Up (RNG) in a tiebreaker.

However, the team had to take a pass and forced them to forfeit their chance for the final Major slot.

Fans were initially surprised by this decision, especially since the organizers did not specify any reason.

With Sparkling Arrow gaming also forfeiting their supposed game, many assumed this was lockdown-related.

However, Vici Gaming clarified that their decision was due to Zhou “Yang” Haiyang’s health. According to the team, Yang suffered a back injury and cannot sit for long periods of time.

This rendered the player unavailable for their supposed match.

DPC

As per DPC rules, the team is only allowed to play with one substitute for four matches. This, as long as the sub is not competing for a different team.

Given that Yang is a sub before the closing of the transfer window, the team is no longer allowed to seek a substitute.

Vici Gaming

Vici claims that the team had a very short amount of time to resolve the issue. Hence, the team is forced to forfeit the series instead.

With this, RNG freely took the top four spot in the region. This, in addition to $26k in prize money, and a generous 80 DPC points. The acquired DPC points allowed the team to qualify for Stockholm Major alongside PSG.LG, Xtreme Gaming, and Team Aster.
