JT- of Invictus Gaming just tested positive for COVID19!
The pandemic is starting to pose a bigger threat in Romania after an Invictus Gaming player tested positive for the virus.
Thiay “JT-” Jun Wen, the team’s offlaner, reportedly contracted the virus just a day after Team Aster’s.
Invictus Gaming publicly announced that it was JT-‘s second test that tested positive for COVID. The organization also noted that no other team member from IG has tested positive.
As of this moment, JT- is reportedly under self-isolation.
The overall COVID situation in the Chinese teams’ hotel is starting to pose a bigger threat to this TI.
Prior to IG’s player testing positive, Team Aster initially reported that 3 of its team members and staff have contracted the virus.
The team’s coach, LaNm, expressed his disbelief regarding the protocols being broken in their hotel.
According to LaNm, many people in the hotel were not masks. He also noted that PGL has were not attentive to their needs.
The coach said that the organizers merely provided them a bootcamp and that’s it. He also noted that they were forced to go outside their hotel to attend to their basic needs including food and water.
TI 10 was originally scheduled last August but was cancelled after an alarming upsurge in the COVID19 cases globally.
Notably, 28% of this year’s participants share the same hotel with those who tested positive.
All Chinese teams including PSG.LGD, Elephant, and Vici Gaming were staying in the same hotel with IG and Aster.
As of this moment, Valve has yet to give its comments regarding the alarming situation.
