A day after suffering its first loss of the season, Team SMG bounced back and eliminated Team Lunatix, 2-1, in the MPL Malaysia Season 11 lower bracket quarterfinals, Saturday afternoon.

Team SMG bagged Game One behind Wan “Subway” Sakirin’s jungle Martis, who finished with seven kills and four deaths against just one death to lead the 12-6 victory in 17 minutes and 22 seconds of game time.

Filipino gold laner Jomari “Jowm” Pingol (Beatrix) stepped up in Game Two for Team Lunatix after a rough Game One. The former Bren Esports pro fired seven kills and four assists without a single death to help his team tie the series via an 18-10 win in almost 20 minutes of action.

Unfortunately, Team Lunatix failed to sustain their momentum as Team SMG banked on their composure to run away with a 17-7 Game Three triumph which lasted for 19 minutes.

Subway powered through anew with his jungle Martis, ending up with eight kills and five assists against one death while Lu “Sasa” Khai Bean’s Karrie had four kills and nine assists against one death in the contest.

On the other hand, Jowm’s Claude was held to a 0-4-6 KDA line as Team Lunatix capped off their promising campaign with a fourth place finish – an improvement from their 7th-8th place campaign in Season 10.

Team SMG, who tasted its first loss yesterday against HomeBois, will face the loser of the HomeBois-Todak upper bracket finals match in the lower bracket finals later in the day.
