Onic Refused Redraft Until Aulus, Coach Explains

The ‘bug-infested’ ONIC versus Omega now comes with an explanation!

ONIC PH now comes with an explanation regarding their supposed buggy experience in their game 3 match against Omega.

In a livestream hosted by Paul “Yeb” Miranda and the team’s manager Rafael Sanchez, the team explained what actually happened in their game.

Both representatives mentioned that their actual intention was to select Aulus in the drafting phase. However, the representatives explained that Bane appeared instead of Aulus.

The coach and the manager continued to explain that it was a bug which was already happening since last season.

“Last season, there were a lot of bugs on the switch for the previous tournaments,” the coach told.

“So we were told to avoid switching when picking a hero but it rarely happened during our streams,” he continued.

Upon experiencing the supposed bug, the team allegedly raised the issue to the marshals immediately.

“We all panicked because of the in-game countdown and we haven’t picked our third hero yet,” said the coach.

MPL Marshals Gave ONIC an Option

During their discussion with the marshals, they allegedly told to continue the drafting phase instead. They were supposedly told to pick the heroes which they actually want to choose.

The team then continued to pick Kaja which was responded by Omega with a Beatrix pick. Moving on, ONIC banned Mathilda and Rafaela answered by a Thamuz and Khaleed ban from Omega.

Following the draft phase, the game was paused which dragged hours drawing speculations from viewers.

“This is what went on our side, I really don’t know what happened,” Yeb said adding that the marshal gave them an option should they want to push for an Aulus pick.

“If you plan to replace Bane with Aulus because of the bug, Omega Esports will change its Beatrix pick,’ that’s what they said to Milly,” the marshal supposedly told.

The said proposal was immediately refused by Yeb saying that OMEGA should not have the option to redraft. The coach claims that it would be fair for them as OMEGA did not experience the issue.

Bugged Game Canceled; Redraft Continued Instead

Moving forward, the marshals supposedly gave the team another option to redraft until their Aulus pick. This proposal however was once again refused by the coach.

Yeb said that accepting such would affect their game as OMEGA already saw their picks to partner Aulus.

“I don’t like that since they (Omega Esports) already saw our possible heroes to partner with Aulus. I don’t know what’s on their side. So, I refused.”

Yeb also claimed that OMEGA did not know the Bane pick being unintentional. The game then proceeded with a complete redraft as changing Aulus to Bane was no longer an option.

“We were asked if the team would just continue the match or not. Then I said, the decision is yours if we should continue or change it to Aulus. Because they are the committee or the marshals, they can decide since they have a rulebook,” stated Yeb.

The game which dragged for long hours proceeded with a complete redraft. Onic then continued to take the game away from Omega, 2-1.

MPL Airs Side on ‘Bug’ Incident

The organizers of MPL warned in their announcement the fans. MPL said that fans should rethink sharing hate comments against any team. They said that teams do not deserve the hate as they were only following the decisions of the marshals.

“Fans should refrain from spreading more hate towards the teams and players and to stop harassing them as they are simply following the orders given by the marshals,” the announcement read.

The announcement also told that their team will be working on fixing the bug to prevent it from happening again.
