Although he is responsible for several famous comebacks, Topson asked for a surrender option for Dota after a particularly bad pub game.

Topson was no stranger to epic comeback games in professional Dota games. With his old team OG, he managed to mount a legendary comeback against LGD most notably in the TI8 finals.

However, even Topson seemed to give up trying to earn a comeback in public games and asked for a surrender option.

The request came after a particularly bad public game when he played as Queen of Pain. The game looked hopeless as he was getting killed numerous times due to focus on his midlane. He went as far as buying several Belt of Strength to give up on the game.

While waiting for his game to end, Topson went on a concerned remark about the public games environment.

“They (Valve) should make this pub games more efficient. They should give a surrender option at ten minutes, so we can speedrun these games.” Topson said during his stream, clearly exasperated by his experience with the public games.

He continued by saying that he doesn’t like to ‘waste time on lost games’, like the one he was playing on stream.

Surrender options have been a contested feature that met with overwhelming disagreement. Many Dota players, particularly the veterans, felt the option would defeat the core gameplay of Dota itself.

There were opinions that a comeback during public games was possible due to the fact that many of them were not organized. Winning teams were often throwing their leads due to cockiness, leading to several epic comebacks by the losing team.
