The Arteezy curse continues as Evil Geniuses fall short in Major finals after getting swept by LGD, 3-0.
China proved its dominance in the scene after PSG.LGD ransacked the top NA team Evil Geniuses. This will be the second time that EG faced a Chinese giant and lost in Major finals.
In March, Evil Geniuses was reverse swept by another Chinese team, Vici Gaming in their finals match up in the Singapore Major.
PSG.LGD took home $200,000 together with 500DPC points after claiming the throne in WePlay’s AniMajor.
LGD’s story was a hard fought battle as the champs fought their way up to the grand finals starting from the group stages.
The team was definitely the team to beat as the Chinese squad topped the group stage earning themselves a slot in the upper bracket of the playoffs.
In their quest to the finals, LGD demolished other top-tier teams including Alliance, Nigma, and T1.
Similarly, EG earned their slot in the playoffs after putting up a spectacular performance in the group stage. EG ransacked several teams on their way to finals after kicking NoPing and TNC’s AniMajor run.
Evil Geniuses also stomped on Nigma’s TI 10 direct invite chance forcing the team to join the regional qualifiers where OG will be waiting.
The Cursed Player: Arteezy
In EG’s another devastating loss, Arteezy remains to be one of the biggest names to not win any single Major tournament.
Artour “Arteezy” Babaev has joined multiple Major tournaments since 2015 and has never one any championship to this day.
Noticeably, Team Secret won a Major in 2016– a year after they kicked Arteezy out of their roster.
Additinally, Evil Geniuses won in The International 2015, a year after the team kicked Arteezy out of the roster.
It seems Arteezy is really a cursed pro following these facts.
