AniMajor Playoffs Seeding is Unfair, Fans Say

The AniMajor Playoffs seeding is out, and fans are not happy about them!

WePlay AniMajor recently posted the seeding list today. Fans say that it’s unfair upon noticing that regional fellows will end up facing each other early in the playoffs.

According to fans, the organizers appear to be deliberately making American teams face each other in the playoffs.

Noticeably, Quincy Crew and NoPing Esports are facing in the upper bracket. Additionally, the loser of their match will also be facing Evil Geniuses in the lower bracket. All three are from the American region, and fans are saying that the organizers are completely sabotaging the region.

“SA – NA upper bracket – then whoever loses faces EG. Deleting America’s first.” one user wrote.

“So the seeding wasnt even random? Damn this dpc year has been shit :/” another one wrote.

Apparently, the playoffs seeding were based merely on DPC allocations.

Here is the seeding for the Playoffs bracket, made by WePlay and approved by Valve.

“The seeding was made based on the following criteria: DPC Points, DPC Season 2 Game Difference, DPC S2 Game Wins, DPC S2 Match Wins” WePlay AniMajor told on Twitter.

Fans say that WePlay could have decided using a lottery system in order to remove possible biases.

“People defend regional leagues giving same points as majors by saying there should be regional representation, not just 12 best teams (which I disagree with, but that’s beside the point). But here DPC points are used as a measure of team strength, which they clearly are not.” a fan told, saying that DPC points allocation are problematic.

Additionally, fans also took notice of TNC and T1’s possible early match up.

T1 will be facing Team Aster on day 1. The loser in their match will also be facing TNC in the lower bracket. Hence, a possible match up between SEA teams should T1 fail to defeat Aster.

“I wish they put emphasis so that teams from same region won’t see each other and try to have as many inter region matches as possible. I mean if we want to watch teams from the same region play each other we could just watch the regular season instead of majors.” one user wrote, emphasizing that teams from same region should not face each other early in the tournament.
