Dubstep Shares Warbirds impact in Team Secret’s Run in VCT Pacific League

Jayvee “Dubstep” Paguirigan shared that head coach Evan “Warbirds” Olzem has been a significant impact to Team Secret especially during the team’s run in the VCT: Pacific League.

Warbirds joined Team Secret last December and has been the coach for the team during the VCT: Lock//In in Sau Paolo and in the first three matches of TS in the Pacific League, recording a 2-1 slate.

“Our coach has made a big impact, especially in terms of discipline, picking strategies, and fundamental gameplay. He has helped us a lot, especially in the technical aspects of playing Valorant as a team,” said Dubstep in a mix of Filipino and English.

Team Secret actually went off to a good start in the tournament with a pair of 2-1 victories over Talon Esports and Paper Rex before finally absorbing their first taste of defeat at the hands of Korean team Gen.G.

Dubstep however was hardly worried about the loss. He also sees it as an opportunity for the team to improve and bounce back.

DubsteP acknowledged that the team lacked communication and good reads in the defeat, but he remained optimistic. “We will do our best to get better,” he vowed looking forward to face fellow SEA team RRQ on Saturday, April 15.

DubsteP reflected on the loss, stating that even when they win, they still strive to improve. He recognized that constantly winning can attract attention from other teams, and it can be challenging to stay ahead.

“I don’t want to say that we got entirely read, but it’s one of the factors why we lost,” he added.

“We were well prepared. We knew that we were the better team. Eventually, they showed something very awesome. They had very good reads on our game, and I was surprised because we know Gen.G is a really good team. We lacked communication and faced challenging situations,” DubsteP admitted.

Team Secret’s performance was not poor, as they lost the first map 13-8 and came close with a 13-11 loss in the second map

Despite their first loss, Team Secret remains determined to improve and come back stronger in the VCT Pacific League, with their coach playing a crucial role in their pursuit of success.
