Dota 2 caster Anthony “scantzor” Hodgson recently leaked that multiple SEA teams will be unable to attend the upcoming qualifier.

It appears this is due to Valve’s rules, that if enforced, said teams will have to skip. Based on reports, the final submission of rosters caused the teams’ problem.

Drama Continues: SMG, Nigma Galaxy SEA, Polaris Likely to Skip TI Qualifier

Alliance CEO Jonathan “Loda” Berg also chimed in on the drama due to his Twitter post.

In a tweet, the CEO raised the question of Talon Esports and Team SMG failed to register in time.

Upon checking, it appeared questionable as teams did not register their players ahead of the deadline.

Following the clout, Talon’s manager denied all speculations. He quickly replied to Loda’s tweet saying Talon did not fail to register their players on time.

Meanwhile, other teams did not accomplish the same requirement. Based on a Liquipedia editor, at least five SEA teams were not able to register in time for the deadline.

The five teams are Nigma Galaxy SEA, Team SMG, Polaris, TNC, and Army Geniuses.

Dota Icons Chime in on Speculations

Aside from the Liquipedia editor and Alliance CEO, Dota statistician Ben “Noxville” Steenhuisen also joined the conversation.

According to Noxville, said teams did not receive a prior warning regarding Valve’s rules. He says he also experienced the same with Alliance where Valve refused to allow them to register its players after the deadline lapsed.

Recently, Valve has been receiving multiple criticisms regarding its decisions. Earlier, Valve created a controversy after allowing Fnatic to claim the last TI direct invite instead of Outsiders.

This created a controversy as the existing DPC points between both teams favored Outsiders.
