The most awaited Worlds 2021 moves from China to Europe!

Worlds in China

The 2021 League of Legends’ World Championship is reportedly moving from China to an undisclosed location in Europe.

Riot Games told that the venue is moving just a few weeks ahead of the tournament.

John Needham, global head of esports at Riot said that COVID protocols and travel restrictions are posing as a challenge. The decision to move the venue was first reported on Monday.

Worlds 2021 to be moved from China to Europe

“After considering all potential options, we concluded that moving Worlds to Europe provided the best opportunity for the most teams and their best players to compete,” told Riot’s global head.

“We’re not ready to announce where in Europe Worlds will be held this year, but accessibility for the highest number of teams and their best players will be the key deciding factor,” he added.

According to Riot, moving the venue to Europe makes the attendance of teams more viable in this pandemic situation.

“Sadly, we’ve reached the point where it’s extremely difficult to guarantee that qualifying teams and their best players would be able to attend Worlds this year. As a result, we’ve made the tough decision to pivot Worlds from China to Europe.”

Worlds happening in Europe makes the tournament the second biggest one to be held in the region.

Europe hosted another big tournament Mid-Season invitational 2021 back in May. The Chinese team Royal Never Give Up reigned as champions in the said competition.

With the Worlds heading to the EU, other changes in the competition will definitely be expected.
