After absorbing a heart-breaking defeat from the same team early in the playoffs, Talon Esports will once again face off against Team Liquid – this time in the lower bracket finals of the Riyadh Masters 2023.
Talon Esports swept 9Pandas in the lower bracket quarterfinals before scoring an emotional 2-1 win over Gaimin Gladiators in the next round to set up another clash against the Western Europe powerhouse in the lower bracket finals.
Prior to their run in the lower bracket, the lone Southeast Asian squad opened the playoffs with a 2-1 win over Quest Esports before facing off against Team Liquid in the upper bracket semifinals.
Talon Esports already had the game in the bag after securing crucial kills on Team Liquid’s cores but Ludwig “zai” Wåhlberg’s Broodmother managed to sneak his way in inside Talon Esports’ camp and win a one-against-five base race that sent the SEA squad down the lower bracket.

The Indonesian mid laner admitted that Talon Esports made ‘stupid decisions’ in the crucial match that saw Nuengnara “23savage” Teeramahanon celebrate early.
Now, however, Mikoto vowed that the team will be more disciplined in their approach as they try to secure the last grand finals slot against the European powerhouse.
“This is like the fourth time I think that we meet them in a tournament. In the last series against Team Liquid, we didn’t win. We made stupid decisions but I think it’s gonna be different tomorrow. Wait for it,” said Mikoto after the win against the Gaimin Gladiators.
Talon Esports will face Team Liquid in the lower bracket finals later in the day.
