BetBoom team manager Luka “Lukawa” Nasuashvili believes that his team did not deserve the punishment that they received following Ivan “Pure” Moskalenko’s actions in the ongoing Bali Major.

The European squad actually won their match against Tundra Esports in the first round of the upper bracket playoffs which got them the needed points to qualify for The International 12.

However, Pure was caught stream-sniping, watching a community stream during their match against the reigning The International champion which forced tournament organizers to reverse the decision and hand Tundra Esports the win.

Tundra Esports advanced to the upper bracket semifinals while BetBoom dropped to the lower bracket.

The European squad faced off against Azure Ray in the first round of the lower bracket. However, just hours before the match, tournament organizers deemed that their punishment was not enough – banning Pure for the rest of the major.

“[How long did the negotiations with the organizers last?] We talked from 10:30 AM Bali. 20 minutes before the start of the match versus Azure Ray, I called Resolut1on and said: “Hello, you are playing in the next match,” that’s it,” said Lukawa in an interview aired in the KD ALL IN Youtube channel.

“I don’t want to discuss the ruling because we will probably make an official statement.

Roman “Resolut1on” Fomynok filled in for Pure but BetBoom failed to survive without their star offlaner, losing to Azure Ray which eliminated them from the Major and ended their hopes of securing a direct invitation to TI12.

“All I feel is devastation. I have no energy, feeling like a discharged phone with 1% left. There’s just nothing to say. I was blocking my emotions the whole day.” said Lukawa.

“What impressions can I have? They just took the TI from us. We are partly to blame ourselves, but we do not believe we deserve such a penalty. We deserve punishment, but not like this.”

For BetBoom to qualify to TI12, Quest Esports must lose their upcoming series against Team Liquid in the lower bracket semifinal. If Quest Esports wins, BetBoom will have to go through the regional qualifiers.
