Filipino mid laner Yuri “Yowe” Pacaña was at the receiving end of fans’ ire following TNC’s unceremonious exit in the Dota Pro Circuit that saw the crash down from Division I to Division II before eventually leaving the scene entirely.

After TNC decided to let go of its main players in Armel “Armel” Tabios, Kim “Gabbi” Villafuerte, and Timothy “Tims” Randrup, the organization tapped a mix of young and veteran players led by Yowe for the Dota Pro Circuit Southeast Asia 2021/2022 Tour 1: Division I.

Yowe was tasked to lead TNC’s rebuild alongside Levi “YoungGod” Lagaret, Lee “X1aOyU” Qian Yu, Prieme “PlayHard” Banquil, and Kim “Febby” Yong-min.

The team, however, underperformed and finished with a 1-6 win-loss standing which placed them last in the eight-team field. This resulted in relegation as the team dropped to Division II for the first time since the DPC introduced the division system.

Yowe, Febby to lead TNC's new era

TNC continued to crash down, placing fifth 5th and 7th, respectively, in the next two tours of Division II.

Yowe said that the bashing got to him to the point that event dreams about it at times which forced him to wake up in the middle of the night.

The 21-year-old mid laner eventually found a way to deal with his haters through the team’s psychiatrist.

“Dati kasi nung nag-TNC ako, nabigla lang ako kasi ang daming expectation tapos talo kami palagi. Napunta sa point na nagising ako mga 3AM dahil napapanaginipan ko mga sinasabi nila [bashers],” said Yowe.

Thankfully, ‘yung TNC noon may Psychiatrist sila.. Na-learn ko is kahit ano mang gawin mo, maganda o bad man may masasabi talaga ‘yung [mga] tao. ‘Yung counted lang na opinion sa’kin is mga pro player.”

Yowe finally got a new lease on his career after getting picked up by Army Geniuses for the DPC SEA 2023 Tour 1: Division II. There, he steered the team to the top seed with a perfect 7-0 record – more than enough to qualify to Division I of the next tour.
