OG CEO JMR Luna explained that they have been trying to acquire DM since ATF’s departure. However, his contract appeared to be too “expensive”.

After ATF’s departure from the team, OG was scrambling for a new offlaner to fill in the void. There were few names lined up, but one stood out to have the highest potential, which was DM.

However, DM’s huge contract buyout meant that OG had difficulties securing his signature. Their CEO, JMR Luna, alluded to this subtly while giving a statement regarding roster shuffle.

JMR Luna gave a short statement about the roster shuffle to Escorenews. In his statement, he felt that players’ contracts were rather unfair due to the team exploiting them. Although DPC ended with TI11, some of the contracts ran until the end of the year.

This meant that any player who wished to move for the first season of DPC 2023 would have to be buyout from their contract.

Although JMR Luna did not explicitly say that it was about DM’s contract, many signs pointed at it. Rumors were spreading that Virtus.Pro set DM’s buyout at an astronomical price until the end of the year.

This meant that either OG would have to play with a stand-in first before DM has his contract expire or the first DPC season.

However, there were also words that OG would look for other offlaners instead of waiting for DM’s availability. Names such as iceiceice and Mind_Control were being thrown out to be potential ATF’s replacement.
