The MPL Philippines Operating Committee (MPL PH) on Sunday launched an investigation regarding the controversial match between Nexplay EVOS and Omega Esports.

In what looked like an unusual strategy between the two teams, lining up their reserves, the viewers felt like the teams are being unprofessional for throwing the first two games.

According to netizens, the teams violated MPL PH’s code of conduct, as they became unprofessional and threw the match.

MPL PH’s rules state that “players are expected to compete in a professional manner. Throwing a match, halting play without cause, or showing a flagrant lack of effort will be construed as a violation of player conduct, and will result in match penalties, forfeit and disqualification from the league.

The MPL Operating Committee also noticed this, hence the investigation.

“We are aware of the controversial behavior during the match of Nexplay EVOS and Omega Esports in Week 7. Please be assured that the MPL-PH Operating Committee will investigate and take necessary actions per our rule book and guidelines,” the statement read.

The Committee said that “professionalism and competitive integrity are highly important and are core values of MPL-PH, and those who do not take these values seriously will be punished accordingly.”

“Once again, we expect all players to follow a strict code of conduct. We will work and listen to the feedback of our fans to build a more professional tournament for all,” they added.
