Moonton’s Exclusivity Contract Optional

Following issues tagging Moonton’s ‘unfair’ exclusivity contract, reports now surfaced saying that the said contract is ‘optional’.

Multiple organizations have recently released their Wild Rift rosters after Moonton’s exclusivity contract went public. Following its virality, reports now say that the said contract is optional.

According to an earlier report, Moonton does not restrict organizations from creating teams in other MPL regions and playing other games.

However, the same report revealed that Moonton is incentivizing those organizations that will be signing the contract. In turn, the said signing parties will be tied to an exclusivity agreement with Moonton.

In a report by Spin PH, the contract will yield revenue to the signing party plus other benefits from Moonton. The report added that the contract is definitely optional.

“The leagues don’t ask the teams for exclusivity. While the player roster is exclusive – the branding of the teams and organizations are not.” told the report.

“e.g. Team A is playing with MPL Indonesia they can compete in [Wild Rift] if there is a separate player roster OR during the regular season should there be transfers.” it continued.

The contract despite being optional, signing such would tie organizations through an exclusivity clause. Failing to abide by the agreement would deny teams from aforementioned benefits.

As of this moment, Moonton and other parties involved have yet to release a statement on the issue.

Prior reports involved Bigetron being one of the biggest organizations to have agreed with Moonton’s contract.
