Nexplay and Evos team up ahead of MPL Season 8?

In the wake of reports of a possible purchase, Nexplay Esports forged a partnership with EVOS Esports of Indonesia.

Prior to MPL PH Season 8, Nexplay CEO and founder Gabriel Benito announced the collaboration during Nexplay Uncovered. It is the company’s mid-year event.

“I know that the heads of EVOS have the same vision as Nexplay, so on that very first principle we are aligned,” Benito said.

“It’s easier to actually move forward with a lot of projects together since what we believe in is in the same direction,” he added.

EVOS made its debut in the Philippine esports industry in 2019. It was one of the first overseas organizations to compete in MPL PH Seasons 3 and 4. However, the company folded early the following year.

Three additional countries in the area have EVOS MPL teams. The EVOS Legends of Indonesia were the inaugural M1 World Champions and are now the MPL ID Champions. The current MPL SG Champions are Singapore’s EVOS SG. Malaysia’s SUHAZ EVOS came in third place in the MPL MY.

No final roster was revealed during the event. Nexplay said they will be revealing the players ahead of MPL Season 8.

Nexplay Esports earned major wins during the regular season despite losing in the first round of the MPL PH Season 7 playoffs.

Early on, they defeated defending champions and reigning M1 global champions BREN Esports 2-0, as well as current Southeast Asia champions Execration.
