Blackpink in your area, except one magazine cover!
The Xinjiang cotton controversy continues to deepen as celebs are now cutting their ties with big brands involved in the issue including Nike, Adidas, and H&M to show support for local products.
The controversy now takes another turn as Blackpink’s Lisa gets involved in the issue.
Lisa of Blackpink has recently became Harper’s Bazaar China cover. The magazine shared exciting news and hints at the shoot of their group’s official Weibo page.
Making things more official, the magazine even changed their profile picture with Lisa’s cover.
However, the keen fans of Blackpink noticed the update of the page being taken down some time later stirring up discussions online as to what have caused it.
The Thai-born celebrity is popular in China for starring as a dance mentor in a reality talent show ‘Youth With You,’ making the issue more spicy.
According to fans, the reason as to why the magazine took Lisa out of the picture is because of her ties with Adidas where Blackpink serves as one of their brand ambassadors.
“Blackpink are Adidas ambassadors, and since Adidas has boycotted Xinjiang cotton, it’s not a good idea for Harper’s Bazaar to feature Lisa on the cover” a netizen told.
While the true reason remains under speculations, other stars have now detached themselves from big brands in support of Xinjiang cotton including Eason Chan, Liu Yifei, Yang Mi, Eddie Peng, Jackson Wang, and many more.
