NA’s controversial Beastcoast on Saturday (April 3) announced that they have imposed a ban on their team captain Steven “StingeR” Vargas for violating quarantine protocols, reason for the team’s withdrawal from currently concluding ONE Esports’ Singapore Major.

Na’Vi and Beastcoast reported on March 26 that they were withdrawing from the competition due to players testing positive of COVID prior to the tournament.

In the case of Beastcoast, StingeR was reported to be the one who contracted the virus and had put his teammates on a risk as he was still playing in practice with the team in preparation for the tournament.

Beastcoast revealed that their team captain violated quarantine protocols being imposed by the team as StingeR came in contact with a person positive of COVID which put himself and the team at risk.

The violation is in relation to the team’s strict protocols which include a ten-day mandatory quarantine of the team’s bootcamp with a twice a week testing for all team members and staff prior the team’s departure for Singapore.

“Beastcoast is and always will be a player-first organisation. While StingeR’s actions were very disappointing, we are focused on working with him to learn from these mistakes to become a better player and a better leader,” the organization told.

The organization also told that they imposed sanctions on the player, details of which were undisclosed.

Additionally, the player’s lifeline on the team might also be in danger as the team announced that they are exploring options of including a sixth player for the roster citing that they are still looking into “options with the starting roster.”
