Blacklist International star Johnmar “OhMyV33NUS” Villaluna recently revealed that the Tier One-backed squad was not aware that roster changes were prohibited for the 2023 Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Southeast Asia Cup.

OhMyV33NUS said that she and Danerie “Wise” Del Rosario wanted to suit up in Season 12 and already informed their team that they would take a break and skip the mid-season tournament to prepare for the final MPL PH season of the year.

They told this plan to league organizers who then informed them that changing their rosters ahead of the meet were not allowed as the MPL served as a qualifying tournament for the MSC.

This unforeseen revelation has led to a cascade of fan backlash and heated debates directed at game developer Moonton.

Amidst the turmoil, Moonton has issued a response defending its actions. According to the developer, the rules regarding roster changes for the MSC 2023 were communicated well in advance and in conjunction with the teams ahead of MPL Season 11.

Moonton Games regional PR manager Keith Medrano expressed that the company had aligned these rules with teams, particularly taking into account the recent updates on age restrictions. Medrano further emphasized the company’s satisfaction with the cooperative stance of all participating teams, including OhMyV33NUS’s team.

“MSC rules were communicated early on and there were no pushbacks regarding it. The league aligned this with the teams ahead of MPL Season 11 and MSC 2023, especially because of the updates on age restrictions. We are glad that all teams, including theirs, were cooperative with us when we relayed this,” said Medrano.

“OhMyV33nus and Wise made the country proud for their recent MLBB esports runs and we respect their decision to take a rest this season. I hope we all look forward to seeing the exciting and elevated MPL Philippines Season 12 in September,” added Medrano.
