ONIC Esports Retains MPL ID Crown in a Dominant Fashion

ONIC Esports has once again demonstrated its prowess, emerging as the top team in Indonesia by sweeping EVOS Legends with a dominant 4-0 score in the grand final of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Indonesia Season 11 (MPL ID Season 11). 

The defending champions preserved an unbeaten record all throughout the playoffs en route to its back-to-back title, fourth in total which also put them on equal footing with RRQ for the most MPL titles in the league.

ONIC convincingly defeated EVOS Legends and Alter Ego, each with a score of 3-0. Onic then secured their spot in the grand final. On the other hand, EVOS Legends had to earn their rematch against ONIC Esports. It clawed their way through the lower bracket. It triumphed over RRQ and Alter Ego with 3-2 victories.

Kairi “Kairi” Rayosdelsol, the key player of ONIC, exhibited an exceptional display of skills in the first two games. He drove his team to a 2-0 lead and bagging the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award for both games. 

In the opening game, he played Fanny with a flawless execution, ending with a remarkable 11/0/7 KDA. Then, in the second game, he demonstrated his flexibility by playing Tank Lancelot and finishing with a 2/0/2 KDA.

EVOS tried to change up their draft strategy by selecting early-game juggernauts such as Jungle Martis and Beatrix for Jabran “Branz” Wiloko. However, a crucial mistake by Rizqi “Saykots” Iskandar spelled doom for EVOS as Onic took advantage and clinched the third game to move on cusp of the title.

Onic showed no letup in the final game of the series. A team fight oriented lineup anchored on Kairi’s signature Hayabusa pick sealed the deal for Onic. It dominated the match with a masterful 25-8 closeout.

With this triumph, ONIC Esports will receive the lion’s share of the US$300,000 prize pool. Both teams will represent Indonesia in the upcoming Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Southeast Asia Cup 2023 (MSC 2023) in June.
