Counter-Strike 2 may be in development, as new profiles for “csgo2.exe” and “cs2.exe” have been discovered in the latest Nvidia drivers.

This discovery has fueled speculation among gamers and fans of the franchise, who are eager to learn more about the possibility of a sequel to the popular multiplayer first-person shooter game.

Nvidia has a reputation for accurate video game leaks, largely due to the GeForce Now database leak in 2019, which revealed numerous projects in development at studios across the industry back then.

However, this latest leak is unique in that it specifically involves Counter-Strike 2.

Twitter user Aquarius (@aquaismissing) has discovered that the latest NVIDIA Drivers include a new Game Profile labeled Counter-Strike 2.

This was supported by another user, Gabe Follower (@gabefollower), who revealed that other NVIDIA drivers also include support for the two executables.

The latest GeForce Experience also includes a config for the said executables. Game Profiles are used to adjust graphics settings for games outside of the game’s options menu.

The discovery of a possible CS:GO 2 in the future is significant because it could represent a major update or overhaul of the original game which has been going on for 11 years, potentially revitalizing the franchise and addressing longstanding issues or criticisms.

Furthermore, a potential sequel could have a significant impact on the esports industry, potentially drawing in even more players and fans and elevating the game’s status as a premier competitive title.

Valve has not released a statement about the leaks.
