The fighting game community is on cloud nine right now with the announcement of the $2M prize pool for the Capcom Pro Tour, with $1M going directly to the winner.

Capcom Pro Tour 2023 will be changing from Street Fighter V to Street Fighter 6, which will be released worldwide on June 2.

In addition to this change, the tournament will introduce a new format and offer the largest prize pool ever seen in fighting game competitions.

Starting this summer after the full release of the sixth iteration of the successful fighting game franchise, the Pro Tour will feature more offline premier events while also retaining online premieres.

This move is expected to enhance the success of SF6 beyond that of SFV’s last season, which turned it into a global platform for players worldwide.

Once again, the World Warrior program will play a crucial role in attracting players from around the world to the Capcom Cup. The top players from specific regions will compete for an invitation to the event, adding to its international allure.

While information regarding these tournaments and programs for CPT 2023 is not yet available, it is anticipated that they will surpass the previous year’s offerings.

Back in Pro Tour IX, the prize pool was a meager $298,500. Saul Leonardo “MenaRD” Mena II won the tournament and took home $120,000. In comparison to today’s prize pools, it’s clear that the tournament has come a long way.

With the prize pool now off the charts, it’s fascinating to see how many people will flock to the tournament. It’s sure to attract an even larger crowd than before.
