Singaporean fans who are waiting for their player, Iceiceice, will have to wait longer since Team SMG will not be in the TI Qualifier.

Previously, it was revealed that a handful of SEA teams failed to register their roster on time. The roster includes teams such as Nigma Galaxy SEA, Polaris, and even TEAM SMG.

However, with the brackets revealed at Liquipedia, it seems only Team SMG wouldn’t be participating in the qualifier.

Teams that were thought to potentially miss the qualifiers were present in the bracket. Nigma Galaxy SEA will be facing Polaris, while TNC will be facing Xerxia in the Lower Bracket.

The most notable absence would be Team SMG, which was put in the “Former Participants” spot.

Team SMG’s absence at the qualifier confirmed the worst for fans of Iceiceice and the team in general. The veteran offlaner himself had alluded to the fact by posting a cryptic Facebook post with a Far From Home meme.

It seems he had known in advance about his team’s absence from the qualifier due to the management’s mishap.

The SEA qualifier will start later than the other qualifiers, on 13 September 2022. With Team SMG’s absence, there will be more spots up to grabs for other teams. Although fans considered the top spot to be lock-on for T1, there are still other teams waiting to pounce for the rest of the spots.

NGX SEA, Polaris, and Talon were deemed to be contenders for the upcoming SEA qualifier.
