SumaiL Makes Difference for ‘Weak’ OG; Liquid, Secret Out of ESL One Summer 2021

ESL One Summer 2021 just kicked off and two teams are already kicked out!

ESL One Summer 2021 started on June 16 with a complete mix of teams. Teams who are already qualified for The International, and those who will be competing in the regional qualifiers will face off for a $400k prize pool.

The said tournament is a brief preparation for teams prior to The International 10.

In the first day, upsets were already made after Vikin.gg and Tundra took down top teams.

Vikin.gg took a sweep versus Team Nigma which had put them down the lower bracket. Tundra, meanwhile, also swept Liquid. The thing to be considered however is Micke’s absence from Liquid.

SumaiL Diff

OG had just recently acquired Syed “SumaiL” Hassan and the king is already proving his worth.

The game one, OG drafted a Broodmother and Oracle for the team. With their Wyvern and Timbersaw picks, Liquid tried to counter OG. Said heroescan easily address the spiderling issue. Liquid’s counter however did not payoff as OG was able to take game one with just little issues.

Their second game started off strong for OG as Illidan’s Leshrac caused so many issues early to mid-game. Liquid took control of the game until the late game where SumaiL’s quick farming paid off.

SumaiL played a huge difference for OG as he carried the team with his non-meta carry, Templar Assassin.

The king shocked Liquid after his Aghanim’s pick-up which was a devastating answer to Liquid’s disables.

Secret and Liquid Exits ESL One Summer 2021

In their defeat versus OG, Liquid is now taking an exit from the tournament. Alongside Liquid is Secret who also took an exit after getting defeated by Alliance and Nigma.

Team Secret took a ‘deja vu’ exit as they lost to Alliance and Nigma– the same manner on how they exited the AniMajor days ago.

As the ESL One Summer 2021 continues, Vikin.gg resumes its journey and will face Team Unique. Meanwhile, AS Monaco Gambit will fight for survival against Tundra Esports.

Losers of the said series will be joining Secret and Liquid in the 9th-12th placement finish.
