Heinrich Abad, Pillar of PH's DOTA 2 Scene, Dies of Leukemia

Heinrich Abad, considered as one of the pillars of Philippines’ DOTA 2 scene, succumbed to Acute Monoblastic Leukemia (AML) on Sunday, June 6, 2021.

His partner Bev Sauzal confirmed the news on Facebook.

Bev confirmed that Heinrich passed away at 5:05 AM today due to complications.

In Late May, Heinrich’s family reached out to his fans and the DOTA 2 community to seek for help with his hospitalizations, as the bills are piling up.

Heinrich stayed strong and held on but ultimately succumbed due to cardiac arrest.

Heinrich Don Abad is one of Cebu’s best DOTA 2 players.

He retired as a professional gamer in 2015 to pursue his career as a Software Engineer to support his growing family.

Abad was diagnosed with Acute Monoblastic Leukemia on May 12. It is a cancer of the blood and bone marrow which usually gets worse quickly if not treated.

“Two days after his diagnosis, he started having fever with body pains & difficulty in breathing.

He was admitted at Cebu Doctor’s University Hospital since his platelets dropped to 29 from 87 for immediate platelet transfusion,” his wife said in a Facebook post.
