Tofu Might Miss Gaimin Gladiators’ TI Campaign. Here’s Why

Gaimin Gladiator’s Anton “dyrachyo” Shkredov provided some illuminating insights into the ongoing VISA challenges that his fellow teammate, Erik “Tofu” Engel, is presently encountering.

Tofu already said earlier this month that he had a conflict in the USA which makes the process of getting a VISA much harder than it already is.

It turns out, the 26-year-old German had tourist VISA prior to his professional career but misspoke during an interview, telling officers that he is coming to the USA for work. Tourist VISA holders are not allowed to do such as they are only there for leisure.

“TOfu had a tourist visa, and he said at the border that he is coming to work. Europeans have a visa waiver program, but he is banned there. Can’t go for it just because he misspoke. They turned him around and sent him back home,” said the Gaimin Gladiators carry.

“If you have a tourist visa, you can’t say that you are coming to earn money. So he will go through the embassy, just like I did. It all happened around six years ago, when he wasn’t a professional Dota player yet,” he added.

Tofu’s possible absence will throw a wrench into Gaimin Gladiators’ upcoming campaign in The International 12, which will transpire in Seattle, USA.

Gaimin Gladiators is the clear-cut favorite to nab the Aegis following a dominant run in the 2023 Dota Pro Circuit campaign that saw them win all three Majors of the season.
