During Valorant Champions, NAVI faced a setback as a player’s use of the smokeless tobacco product, Snus, led to a penalty: the loss of a timeout.

The team suffered a 2-1 defeat against DRX in the winner’s match of their group, specifically on the map Bind.

NAVI’s head coach, Erik ‘d00mbr0s’ Sandgren, confirmed this penalty through a tweet that has since been deleted.

Snus, a popular type of tobacco in Europe, was the cause of the infraction.

While NAVI is currently at a 1-1 standing in group D, Riot Games has not issued an official statement or ruling regarding the penalty as of now.

The 2023 VCT ruleset clearly outlines the prohibition of tobacco and nicotine products within the Match Area, emphasizing the importance of fair play and adherence to regulations in esports competitions.
