Team Aster kept its dreams of hoisting the Riyadh Masters trophy alive after eliminating Evil Geniuses, 2-0, in the first round of the lower bracket playoffs at the Boulevard Riyadh City in Saudi Arabia.

The Chinese squad escaped the South Americans via a tight 24-19 win in Game 1, which lasted for 42 minutes and 54 seconds.

Syed “SumaiL” Hassan’s Windrunner was a clear cut above the rest, tallying 11 kills and nine assists against one death in the opening win while Hu “Kaka” Liangzhi’s exceptional playmaking on Lion saw him produce three kills and 14 assists against three deaths.

Team Aster closed the series with a 31-19 victory in Game 2 after 38 minutes and 21 seconds of action.

SumaiL once again starred for the Chinese squad with a monster 10-1-13 KDA line on Ember Spirit while Lin “Xxs” Jing’s Dark Seer managed eight kills and 16 assists against one death.

Team Aster will advance to the second round of the lower bracket where they will face the winner of the Team Secret-9 Pandas match-up on Friday.
