Topson: Playing Against Matumbaman is Scary

Even watching Matumbaman is already making me feel scared, Topson!

Lasse Aukusti “MATUMBAMAN” Urpalainen has been one of the greatest players to grace the game. With his versatility, the TI 7 champion is able to switch from mid to carry when needed.

With Matumbaman, having a very scary playstyle, many players have had fears in facing him, including the two-time TI champ, Topson.

In his livestream, Topias Miikka “Topson” Taavitsainen praised Matumbaman’s versatility. He also narrated the times when he felt scared in drafting against the veteran.

Since Liquid, back in TI 8, had many counter-picks against Topsons heroes– Lone Druid, Broodmother, and Venomancer which are all Matumbaman’s comfort picks.

With this situation, Topson was forced to play strong laners against Liquid’s player.

“There was always something that he could do to ruin me so I just played heroes like Troll, and Pango – strong laners,” he said.

In 2019, Topson revealed how glad they were when Liquid kicked Matu out of the team. This, according to Topson, made it easy for them to defeat Liquid everytime.

“But then they kicked Matu and we were like – Okay, they lost their star player – the one who makes them scary. And then playing into them was so fun and easy,” he said.

While being a strong safe laner, Matumbaman would sometimes switch roles with Miracle- in different situations. Ahead of TI 9, the team replaced him with w33 while forming a different organization named Team Nigma.

Currently, Team Nigma has rebranded to Nigma Galaxy. This time, w33 is no longer part of the team and is replaced by iLTW.
