Recently, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines (PH) imposed a new rule. This drew attention from the professional scene, including Blacklist’s superstars OhMyV33nus and Wise.

While enjoying their break, OhMyV33nus shared the MPL PH’s newest rule. According to the player, the league now requires teams to submit their starting lineups.

According to the dynamic duo of the M3 champs, this new rule removes the ‘surprise’ tactic during the event.

“For me, this (new rule) ruins the surprise factor (of matches),” mentioned wise.

As per MPL’s rulebook, rule 5.3.1 stipulates that teams are required to send their active roster, and starting lineups during tournament splits. In addition, changes in the lineup in the upcoming matches require teams to send a request a day before their schedules.

Blacklist’s jungler also said that in previous seasons, their team was steps ahead in drafting strategies based on their opponent’s players. Before this new rule, teams would only reveal their lineups 20-30 minutes before their matches begin.

“Actually, even on M3 (World Championship) when we were facing RRQ, we never knew who will be playing there, will it be Skylar, or Sheen, to the point we made two drafts, we made a lot of drafts,” told OhMyV33nus.

“Personally, I think this is the first time it happened. For me, it’s (the new rule) weird,” he added.

Currently, this new rule might actually shake the ongoing MPL. Predictability of teams becomes more possible as the lineup ‘surprise’ factor is already removed.
