ONIC came in swinging in the M3 rematch against Blacklist in their MPL PH Season 9 opener match!

Many were surprised right after ONIC Esports dismantled the M3 champs in their series, 2-1. Adding more surprises, many were shocked right after Blacklist International tried to play with their UBE strategy.

Using the same strategy against the same opponent, the team lost as ONIC appeared to have read the champs.

Ygnacio “Kairi” Rayosdelsol looked ready to take the reigns as the young player took the MVP during the series.

Blacklist vs Onic Recap

In the first game, Kairi shook Blacklist with his overpowered playstyle which was backed up by his team’s poking composition.

Kevier, a newbie in the scene, looked like he wasn’t ready for the new role after the series. The new ‘agent’ seemed lost throughout game one after finding a hard time responding to ONIC’s dominance.

The second game of the series looked like a replay of game one at first but eventually turned around. Baloyskie surprised Blacklist as all the calls that he did were able to take the opponents to a surprise in the early game.

Blacklist, on the other hand, tried to make a new game plan. The team drafted a lineup without their signature Estes.

Their draft, however, backfired as their melee-heavy lineup was overshadowed by ONIC’s ranged heroes. Against all odds, Blacklist turned the tides right after taking a smart trade in the turtle-to-lord exchange, eventually taking the lead.

Unable to come back, ONIC was drained fighting after the creeps ended the game.

Game 3 of the series was a season 8 throwback with ONIC taking a Fanny pick. Blacklist, on the other hand, took a Brody pick as a supposed counter to ONIC’s cable machine.

Despite the supposed counter, Kairi’s Fanny stole the show after taking an MVP performance, stealing kills-after-kills against Blacklist. Aside from Kairi, Baloyskie also maximized Pharsa’s skillset, creating massive damages, and misdirections against Blacklist.

Adding more damage, Markyyyyy’s Clint took the banker title after securing multiple objectives. Things closed in during the late game, but Blacklist was not able to retaliate, handing the win 24-mins in.
