Do you feel like you’re on a losing streak in ranked games? It’s not your fault!
EvrMoar, Senior Competitive Designer of Valorant admitted that the game’s ranked game feels really imbalanced. He said that if you’re feeling like you are on a losing streak, the game’s flawed match making could be the reason.
The Senior Competitive Designer posted on his Twitter account that matches have really been really one sided for players. He admits that this has been a recurring issue every time each Act nears its end.
‘We are investigating why players feel like their matches have been “one sided” recently. What’s interesting is this feedback seems to become common at the end of every Act. Good luck out there!’ EvrMoar tweeted.
Based on his tweet, players might feel like they are either getting stomped or that you are doing better. It has no middle ground, meaning there’s an actual imbalance in match-making.
Reason as to why this is an issue is that smurfs are not being held liable for disrupting the game. Smurfs issue is a recurring issue in the game, one that took EvrMoar’s attention to which he told that these players should be reported as Valorant is now handing out bans for these players.
Another issue that is happening since the start of the current act is the imbalanced matchmaking where low ranks can get teamed up with the high elo– a silver being queued up with a diamond for example.
EvrMoar responded saying that it is because the game’s matchmaking is based on MMR, one that takes about 20-30 ranks to converge an MMR to your rank. He also told that the it is a problem that cannot be solved overnight as increasing the size of grouping may increase the potential range of MMR.
The designer also admitted that it is possible for a bronze player to be queued up with either irons or silvers. Basically, matches are basically based on your streak, a winning or losing one. EvrMoar admitted that it is an issue that he wants to address in the future.
Admittedly, this current match making puts the question as to whether or not your teammate deserves to be in your elo or not.
