As a fellow player “who can be categorized as an esports player”, Grandmaster Alexander Grischuk had a chance to do something that made netizens excited. Alexander Grischuk is a chess champion who because of his intelligence and skill at processing chess pieces, managed to rank sixth in the world.

But will intelligence and skills in chess make someone proficient at playing Dota 2? The fact is that Dota 2 is not just any game that experienced people can master for a moment. Grandmaster Alexander Grischuk himself admitted that it was difficult to learn the game by Valve.

In an interview with Chess24, Grischuk said that he has learned Dota strategy from many video tutorials. He even had time to communicate with Grandmaster Nepomniachtchi, ranked fourth in the world, who was once a semi-professional Dota 2 player.

“I downloaded the tutorial video and got half an hour’s brief from Nepomniachtchi. But after three hours of playing, I still didn’t understand anything, ”said Grandmaster Alexander Grischuk.

Grandmaster Alexander Grischuk went on to say that he finally understood what most people feel when watching complicated matches like Dota 2 and shess.

“Finally I understood what people feel when watching Chess. Of course the computer can tell who is in the lead, but the match will only be interesting for those who have enough knowledge to watch,” he said.
