The SIBOL MLBB squad emerged victorious, clinching the gold medal at the 12th ASEAN Para Games held in Cambodia from June 4 to 5.
The squad, composed of Chester Gonzales, Jasper Lorenz Desingaño Ambat, Marvin Angelo Rañon Ignacio, Ashly Josh Sisno Paghubasan, and Joshua Gatela Detera, was led by MPL coaches Francis “Duckey” Glindro.
The team showcased their prowess by going undefeated throughout the tournament, defeating Malaysia, Cambodia, and Thailand.
In the grand final, they faced Malaysia once again and maintained their dominance, securing the gold medal. Malaysia settled for silver, while the host country claimed bronze.
This edition of the Para Games marked the inclusion of esports as a demonstration sport, with the SIBOL MLBB squad’s victory not counting towards the official medal tally.
