Western European team Gaimin Gladiators won the Lima Major championship on Monday. They completed a flawless playoff run by defeating their regional rivals, Team Liquid, in a 3-0 sweep during the best-of-five Grand Finals.

It was a one-sided affair matchup, primarily because Team Liquid was short-handed. Samuel “Boxi” Svahn was unable to participate in two playoff series due to a medical emergency, forcing Mathis “Jabbz” Friesel, the team’s analyst, to take his place.

During the Group Stage, Gaimin Gladiators finished first in Group A with an impressive 11-5 record for an upper bracket placement.

They effortlessly swept China’s Team Aster and regional rivals Entity, winning both matches via sweep.

Gaimin Gladiators played flawlessly in the first game, accumulating a huge gold advantage that Team Liquid couldn’t recover from, ending with a kill score of 35-19.

In game two, Quinn’s Pangolier dominated Liquid, resulting in a complete triumph for Gladiators with a kill score of 27-6.

In the last game, both teams experimented with niche picks, but Gladiators’ Witch Doctor-Io offlane combo and dyrachyo’s free farming of Lina gave them an insurmountable advantage, with a final kill score of 25-15.

Gaimin Gladiators secured a $200,000 prize and 400 Dota Pro Circuit points following their victory, bringing their total to 580 points.

Meanwhile, Team Liquid received $100,000 and 350 DPC points.

As of writing, both teams are leading the DPC points and are on track to qualify for The International 12, the most prestigious Dota 2 tournament.
