The COVID-19 pandemic continues to take a toll on the competitive esports community as another pro-player is presumed troubled by the virus making him unfit to attend the Singapore Major.

Neon Esports has announced on its social media that its carry Anthony “Natsumi” Vargas is rendered “unfit to travel” to Singapore for the upcoming Major due to undisclosed reasons.

Fans assume that the player has contracted the virus— a reason most players were being subbed-out of the upcoming SG Major.

According to Neon Esports, they will have Rappy stand-in for the unfit carry.

“[Natsumi] is still very much a part of our team and we wish that he gets well as soon as possible. The good news is that [Rappy] has agreed to stand in for us. Rappy has played over 1,000 games with Neon and we feel his experience and synergy makes him the best choice for us,” the organization told in a statement.

The current protocol being applied by the Singapore Major organizers include strict disallowance of players who test positive of the coronavirus in order to minimize the risk of exposure.

Neon Esports is now the third team to attend the Major with subs. Na’Vi and VP are the other two who announced their changes late last week.
