Laotian Squad Gets MSC Slot After Topping Mekong Qualifiers

Laotian squad EVO Esports nabbed the sole MSC slot in the Mekong Qualifiers last Thursday.

EVO Esports managed to fend off a gutsy Niightmare squad in the grand finals, 3-2, and seal its ticket to Cambodia for the upcoming 2023 Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Southeast Asia Cup this coming June.

The Laos-based squad started the playoffs on the wrong foot and suffered a sweep at the hands of Niightmare in the upper bracket semifinals.

EVO Esports then eliminated IDNS, 2-0, to deny the Thai squad a fifth consecutive MSC appearance before eventually facing Niightmare again in the grand finals. This is the first MSC that will not feature IDNS.

The team swept Group B and posted a perfect 4-0 record in the pool stage.

EVO Esports now joins ONIC Esports, EVOS Legends, RSG Slate SG, Burn X Flash, and Fenix Esports in the MSC. 

Meanwhile, the representatives for MPL Philippines, MPL Malaysia, MPL MENA, NACT, and MTC are yet to be determined as their respective tournaments are still ongoing.
