Few months ago, the first ever tweet tweeted by Jack Dorsey, Twitter founder, was up for grabs among rich people through a bidding.

Dorsey’s Tweet saying “just setting up my twttr” was put on sale as Twitter celebrates its 15th birthday this month.

A Malaysia-based businessman took interest in the tweet, and bought it at a whopping $2.9 million.

Estavi, CEO of Bridge Oracle, compared his purchase to buying valuable paintings like the Mona Lisa. How weird can that even be?

The businessman purchased the tweet using ethereum cryptocurrency, the second largest cryptocurrency available in market capitalization— second to bitcoin.

According to the chief executive of the said technology firm, he used nonfungible token (NFT), a unique digital certificate which uses bitcoin technology which is worth of digital assets.

Dorsey said the proceeds of their sales will go to their charity— Give Directly’s Africa Response fund upon conversion from etherium to bitcoin.
