Bren Esports’ CEO, Bernard Chong, is facing new controversy as the Department of Justice in the Philippines investigates him for allegedly creating dummy corporations to defraud the government.
Chong’s wholesale business, Brenterprise International Inc., is accused of running a scam where fake companies acted as suppliers to fabricate receipts for clients.
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) raided Brenterprise’s office in Quezon City, uncovering an elaborate scheme that defrauded the government of approximately P50 billion in income taxes over 15 years.
Around 1,000 businesses used Brenterprise’s services to inflate expenses and reduce their tax payments.
Earlier, Chong was cleared of charges related to a 2019 botched drug operation. Chong has not yet responded to the allegations.
