A Reddit user has recently revealed that Dota 2 has changed its matchmaking rating (MMR) moving forward.
The Glicko system is now in full swing in the Dota 2 client, similar to the ranking system in CS: GO and Chess.com.
This system aims to accurately measure a player’s skill in ranked matches, based on rating deviation.
A player will start at a fixed number.
Those who are just starting out will have large swings in their scores until the system determines their accurate rank.
This means that once their numbers are closer to their skill level, the swings in their scores will drastically go down.
In short, a lower rating deviation means that there won’t be much change in your MMR.
This is a big change from the previous MMR system where players win or lose 30 points in solo queue and 20 points in the ranking.
Valve has yet to confirm more details regarding their MMR change.
