The addition of assistant coach Vrendon “Vrendon Lin” Pesebre brought nothing but positives to Bren Esports to the point that head coach Francis “Duckeyy” Glindro declared that he is the ‘best hire 2023’ for the Filipino esports organization.
Duckeyy has attributed a significant portion of his team’s success to his assistant coach who played a crucial role in setting up the tactical preparations and was calling the shots during drafts.
Despite serving as the head coach, Duckeyy acknowledged that Vrendon’s contributions are often overshadowed and that the majority of their tactical preparation comes from him. Vrendon made two surprise picks during Game 3 of the MPL Philippines Season 11, selecting Julian midlane and Kaja roaming picks to counter ECHO’s signature map aggression.
“It was actually a very good call from Vren kasi most of the time he is being overshadowed kasi ako lagi ‘yung tinatanong but majority of our tactical preparation is with him,” said Duckeyyy.
“I really want to give props to Vren kasi sobrang well-documented when he actually preps up so bet hire 2023,” added the M2 world champion coach.
While Julian was an unplanned pick, the team’s dedication during practice helped them make it work.
“Siguro ‘yung consistency lang ng team sobrang dedicated rin nila magtraining, at the same time open sila criticism kaya di mahirap na magbounce back lalo na sa mga losses, lalo na yung mga one day in between matches namin,” said the Bren assistant coach who now have steered the M2 world champions to an eight-game winning streak.
Bren Esports has now defeated all teams in the MPL and exacted revenge against ECHO after a 2-0 loss in the first round of playoffs. The team has settled down after getting pressured during their first-round meeting and is now on an eight-game winning streak.
