Shopify Rebellion Stays Alive in Lima Major by Eliminating Former Team

Shopify Rebellion came out with a statement win, eliminating the team that released them in Evil Geniuses, 2-1, in the quarterfinals of the Lima Major lower bracket at the Arena 1 in Peru.

Evil Geniuses, who decided to release its North American roster to acquire the former Thunder Awaken core for the Tour One of the 2023 Dota Pro Circuit season, claimed the first game in front of their home crowd to take an early 1-0 advantage.

Farith “Matthew” Huamancaja took charge in the Game One win and tallied nine kills and 13 assists against two deaths on Snapfire while Adrián “Wisper” Dobles had nine kills, two deaths, and 16 assists on Broodmother in the 31-16 domination in 32 minutes and 13 seconds.

Shopify Rebellion bounced back in the second game and took a 34-13 win in almost 40 minutes of action to tie the series at 1-all.

Jonáš “SabeRLight-” Volek came in and had a monster performance that saw him secure a game-high 14 kills along with just one death and 14 assists on Snapfire while Abed “Abed” Yusop had seven kills, two deaths, and 15 assists on his signature Storm Spirit.

Shopify Rebellion then came out as the better team in the series after escaping Evil Geniuses, 33-27, in a tight 44-minute match in Game Three.

Abed took over in the decider and unleashed a 15-3-15 KDA line on Zeus to help Shopify Rebellion advance to the lower bracket semis.

The Canada-based team will take on the winner of the Talon Esports-Entity lower bracket quarterfinal series in the lower bracket semifinals.
