Team Aster eliminates TI11 champs Tundra Esports at Lima Major

Tundra Esports’ competitive dominance was halted by Team Aster’s 2-1 win at the Lima Major in Peru.

Fighting for tournament life in the lower bracket, both teams went back and forth in the series with Team Aster getting the final laugh against the TI11 champions in the intense best-of-three showdown.

It was a bloodbath in the first game as Team Aster had a 27-kill lead at the 34-minute match compared to Tundra Esports who only had five. Lin “Xxs” Jing’s Snapfire popped off in the game, recording a clean 6/0/18 KDA to help the Chinese squad in the one-sided battle.

Tundra Esports forced the decider in the second game, with Oliver “skiter” Lepko was recording an almost flawless 13/1/9 on Ursa.

The third game was intense, with a close 29-24 kill score, and Tundra initially gained an advantage with a surprise Gyrocopter pick. However, Team Aster’s Drow Ranger and Templar Assassin picks eventually secured the win at the 48-minute mark.

Tundra finished 9-12th place in the tournament and will not earn any DPC points in the process.

On the other hand, the Chinese squad will face South America’s Evil Geniuses in the second round of the lower bracket on March 3.
