Beyond the Summit (BTS), a renowned production company specializing in esports events and content creation, has announced that it has let go of all its staff due to financial struggles brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Co-founder David “LD” Gorman revealed in a Twitlonger post that they had to take the difficult decision to let everyone go, as the company might reach a point where it won’t be able to pay its employees.

“We don’t want to leave our people out in the cold. We don’t want to leave them with uncertainty, constantly wondering and worrying when the money will run out,” he wrote.

“We care about everyone who has helped build BTS. They have all given so much, and they deserve to know exactly what is happening and have the best possible chance to land on their feet.”

BTS, which was founded in 2011, has become one of the most prominent companies in the Dota 2 and Super Smash Bros. esports scenes.

The company is known for producing high-quality broadcasts of esports tournaments and creating engaging online content, such as podcasts and video series. BTS has also organized its own tournaments, including the popular Summit series.

In a show of support, LD has listed all of its employees in a separate file and encouraged other companies who are looking for staff to take in their employees, vouching for them in the process.
