The opening day of VCT LOCK//IN saw a significant turnout of Valorant fans, indicating that the event is on track to be highly successful. The statistics website Esports Charts reported an average of 369,000 viewers and a peak of almost 540,000 viewers during the event.

The most highly anticipated match of the day was between NRG and KOI, reigniting the Europe versus North America esports rivalry.

The second match of the day, which featured Giants Gaming of Europe and Detonation FocusMe of Japan, drew a peak of 376,750 viewers.

Despite a rescheduling due to health reasons, the reigning world champions LOUD were scheduled to face Gen.G on February 13.

VCT LOCK//IN’s peak viewership ranks fourth among all Valorant events, only behind VCT 2021 Masters Reykjavík, the game’s first international event, and the two Valorant Champions event.

The Valorant Champions 2022 still has the most number of opening day viewership with peak of 807,007 while its 2021 edition amassed a peak of 690,930 views.

VCT LOCK//IN is considered to be a prelude to the upcoming international leagues in EMEA, Asia-Pacific, and the Americas. The winning team of the Brazilian event will provide their region with an additional slot in VCT Masters Tokyo.

As VCT LOCK//IN advances, it is anticipated that the number of viewers will continue to grow, particularly during matches featuring teams with large fan bases such as Sentinels, LOUD, Karmine Corp, and ZETA DIVISION. Esports Charts ranked the Japanese squad as the most popular Valorant team worldwide with an average viewership of 271,700 individuals before the end-of-season event, Valorant Champions 2022, in August 2022.
