Blacklist International CEO Tryke Guttierez expressed his disappointment but remained optimistic after Blacklist Rivalry failed to advance to the Lima Major following a tough couple of losses in the Dota Pro Circuit SEA 2023 Tour 1: Division I.

Coming off a 2-1 win against Boom Esports, Blacklist Rivalry had the chance to secure a Major berth last Monday against Geek Slate but failed to capitalize on their 1-0 series lead which led to a 1-2 loss.

The loss forced a tiebreaker on the same day between them and Talon Esports which the latter eventually won via sweep.

“What happened yesterday was disappointing to say the least. For now, we had the players rest to reset. We have BTS coming up and a few months before the next DPC,” posted Tryke after the loss.

“We’re a newly built team and has definitely a lot to learn. That game with Geek Fam tested our limits and unfortunately we came out on the losing end pero I’m hopeful not just because of toxic positivity but because we were really one clash away from the majors against the no. 2 team in the region. That series with Talon wasn’t us anymore,” added Tryke.

Tryke said that the team will use this time to lick their wounds and prepare for Tour 2. He also thanked everyone who supported the team during the course of the season and apologized to everyone they disappointed.

“We have so many things that we need to fix and for now what we have is time.. We will not waste this free time to just lick our wounds, we will work on our team so that you’ll see a better product in the coming months,” said Tryke.

“Salamat sa nagtiwala, salamat sa nandito pa rin at sorry sa mga nadisappoint namin.”

Blacklist Rivalry entered the first tour as the clear-cut favorite after assembling an All-Filipino all-star team which includes PH Dota 2 icon Carlo “Kuku” Palad, Polo “Raven” Fausto, Karl “Karl” Baldovino, Timothy “TIMS” Randrup, and Nico “eyyou” Barcelon.

The team ended up at fourth place with a 4-3 win-loss standing.
