Although Limitless admitted to the allegations, he explained the ‘cheat’ was necessary to ‘survive’ due to economic problems for Tier 2 players.

After PGL announced its ban on players, many were still shocked by the list of players getting banned. One of them is Limitless, a former player of Alliance who got caught in a ‘cheat’ scandal.

However, the player revealed a sobering message about the truth of Tier 2 players in Dota professional scene.

Limitless explained the cheating allegation that happened during his time with Luna Gaming to Escorenews. He reasoned that the account sharing happened due to a lack of practice with their team. As such, they played under different accounts for ‘scrims’.

Therefore, when their friends at S9 had the chance to play, Luna Gaming members played under the S9 players’ account.

Limitless went on further to explain the reality of Tier 2 players in the Dota professional scene. He elaborated that Tier 2 players were constantly lacking economical advantages to survive. They had to survive on ‘one prize payment to another’, indicating a lack of stability.

However, he also mentioned that the harsh reality does not excuse their illegal actions. The former Alliance offlaner did not expect the fans to forgive their actions as well.

Fans themselves were largely unsympathetic to Limitless’ excuses for cheating. They mentioned that the player’s actions harmed the integrity of the Dota competitive scene, and therefore Tier 2 players themselves.

The rampant allegation of cheating and instability would make tournament organizers reluctant to invest in Dota 2 professional scene.
