Malaysia bags two gold medals for Dota in the Commonwealth Games held in Birmingham, England. Both men and women have impressed!

The Commonwealth Games officially tried the esports branch this 2022. Although it didn’t count towards the country’s medal count, the tryout games were still considered prestigious.

For the Dota esports branch, Malaysia managed to get all of the gold medals for both men and women.

For the women Championship, Malaysia went up against England in the finals. Since both teams were seen as equals, many anticipated their match to be neck-and-neck.

However, the Malaysian team seemed to get a better grasp at the draft and outdrafted England. The BO3 went uneventfully with the Malaysia women Dota team dominating in all phases of the games.

With the Alchemist pick, Malaysia breached the high ground at the 33rd minute without any resistance from their opponent. The outdraft completely turned the game in their favor throughout the game.

As such, they convincingly defeated the England team and swept the English squad for the gold medal of the competition.

The men faced a stiffer competition from England, as they took the BO3 to the third game. The Malaysians won the game convincingly at first with meta picks which caught the England off guard.

However, England clapped back in the second game with meta picks of their own such as Dawnbreaker and Zeus. Malaysia tapped out of the second game at the 32nd minute and prepared for the third game.

Malaysia opted out for the wombo-combo with Invoker, Mars and Faceless Void in the third game. Although risky, it’s a guarantee in winning teamfights which eventually overwhelmed England.

After a last winning teamfight, Malaysia Men Dota proceeded to win the series at the 33rd minute. As such, Malaysia managed to win both gold medals for the Dota championship at Commonwealth Games.
