ESL Malaysia invites Team Secret as the fifth team to compete for the title on 23 August 2022. They are the fourth WEU team to get the invite.
Ever since the controversial decision to invite Alliance, it seems ESL resumes to invite the team with “big names”. They managed to invite Liquid after Alliance, and in addition, Team Secret. The invitation hence can serve as a boost for Team Secret for the upcoming TI Qualifier.
However, some fans also express their concern that the tournament can be distracting before the TI Qualifier.
ESL announced the Team Secret invitation via a Twitter post, therefore officially welcoming the WEU team to Genting, Malaysia. They mentioned that they are happy to announce Puppey and his squad as part of the upcoming ESL Malaysia 2022.
Comparing to the recent matches, it’s safe to say that Secret will prove to be a formidable team.
Recently, they managed to beat Team Liquid 2-0 in the WEU DPC and gain a significant point in the tournament. In addition to the recent achievement Team Secret had in the previous season, their invitation can be justified by some fans.
However, with TI Last Chance Qualifier in sight, this can prove to be a distraction for Team Secret.
Team Secret has managed to gather only a handful DPC points so far to qualify directly for TI11. They only got 59.5 DPC points during the whole tour, which is far from enough to gain the qualification.
They still have an outside chance to qualify for the Arlington Major and get the majority of their DPC points there. However, it can prove to be difficult, as they still need other results to go their way to ensure a tiebreaker.
